Your Installation Day Guide: What to Expect on Interior Design Install Day

Installation day is one of the most exciting milestones in a full-service interior design project—and the moment when months of planning, collaboration, and thoughtful design finally come to life. After countless selections, detailed coordination, and behind-the-scenes preparation, this is the day your home is transformed into the beautiful, finished space you've been envisioning.
At CNC Home & Design, our team carefully manages the interior design installation process from start to finish. While we handle every detail behind the scenes, a little preparation beforehand helps ensure installation day is as smooth, efficient, and enjoyable as possible. Below are a few simple ways you can prepare—and what to expect on installation day.

Leave the Heavy Lifting to Us
Every interior design installation is thoughtfully choreographed. Furniture, artwork, accessories, and finishing details are delivered and installed in a carefully planned sequence to ensure each room comes together exactly as intended.
If possible, we recommend making plans to spend the majority of the day away from home. This allows our team to work without interruption while also creating a much more memorable reveal once everything is complete. We know it can be tempting to stop by and check on the progress, but we promise the finished transformation is worth the wait.

Clear Personal Items from Installation Areas
Before installation day, please remove any personal belongings from the spaces we'll be working in whenever possible.
This may include:
Family photos
Decorative accessories
Electronics and chargers
Children's toys
Small furniture or décor pieces
Fragile items or valuables
Preparing your home for installation in advance allows our team to style each room more efficiently while helping protect your personal belongings throughout the process.

Secure Pets and Plan for Children
Interior design installation days involve movers, installers, artwork, deliveries, and team members coming and going throughout your home.
For everyone's safety, we recommend arranging for pets to stay in a secure area of the home or off-site for the day. If your schedule allows, we also recommend arranging for young children to be away from the installation areas. With furniture and other large pieces being moved throughout the home, this helps create a safer environment while allowing our team to work as efficiently as possible.

Provide Clear Access
To help our installation team work efficiently, please ensure:
Driveways and parking areas are accessible for delivery vehicles.
Walkways are clear of obstacles.
Any necessary gate, garage, or building access information has been provided in advance.
Elevator reservations or loading dock arrangements have been coordinated, if applicable.
No other contractors or service appointments are scheduled during your installation time, such as cleaners or organizers.
Our team will review these logistics with you during your pre-installation check-in call so everyone knows exactly what to expect before the day arrives.
Expect a Little Activity
Installation day is exciting, but it can also be busy. Depending on the scope of your interior design project, there may be furniture deliveries, artwork installation, electricians, window treatment installers, or other trade partners working throughout the day.
The CNC Home & Design team will be wearing branded shirts, and aside from our team, only our trusted contractors and trade partners will be on-site during the installation.
We coordinate all of these moving pieces behind the scenes so you don't have to. While it may look busy from the outside, every detail has been carefully coordinated long before installation day to create a seamless final result.

We'll Keep You Updated
Although we recommend being away from home during installation, you'll never be left wondering how things are progressing.
We'll stay in touch throughout the day if any questions arise or if the installation timeline changes. Once we're putting the finishing touches on your space, we'll coordinate a time for your return and reveal.
This is one of the many benefits of working with a full-service interior design firm: our team manages the details, deliveries, trades, and final styling so you can simply look forward to seeing your completed home.

Get Ready for the Reveal
One of our favorite moments in every project is welcoming our clients back for the reveal.
Before you arrive, our team takes time to style every detail—from arranging accessories and artwork to fluffing pillows, making beds, and adding the final finishing touches—so your home feels complete the moment you walk through the door.
This reveal is something we look forward to just as much as our clients do, and we hope you'll allow yourself the opportunity to experience your transformed home all at once.
During this time, we'll walk through your new space together, answer any questions, review the care of your furnishings, and note any remaining punch list items, if necessary.

We're Looking Forward to Seeing You Soon
Every installation represents months of thoughtful planning, careful coordination, and hundreds of design decisions made with your home and lifestyle in mind. It's the culmination of everything we've been working toward together, and we're honored to be part of this exciting milestone.
For our clients throughout Cleveland's west side, installation day is also the moment our full-service design process comes full circle: the plans, selections, furnishings, and details we've carefully considered together become a home that is ready to be lived in and enjoyed.
If you have any questions before installation day, don't hesitate to reach out. Otherwise, sit back, enjoy the anticipation, and leave the rest to us. We can't wait to welcome you into your beautifully completed home!
