As a family’s needs evolve, their home should be designed to evolve with them. The spaces that worked beautifully when your children were toddlers may no longer support school-age routines, hybrid work schedules, busy extracurriculars, or the simple realities of everyday life. That was exactly the challenge our Westlake, OH clients were facing.
Rather than searching for a new home, they chose to invest in the one they already loved, and create spaces designed around the way their family lives today and for years to come.
A Home Ready for Its Next Chapter
When we first walked through the home, the kitchen and laundry room had become bottlenecks in the family's daily routine. Storage was limited, the finishes didn’t reflect the homeowners’ personal style, and the first floor lacked the cohesion and functionality the homeowners needed.
As repeat clients, this was our fifth project together, giving us a deep understanding of how their family lives and what mattered most to them. From the very beginning, our goal wasn't simply to update their home—it was to thoughtfully rethink the way every space functioned.
By approaching the renovation and furnishings as one cohesive project, we were able to create a home that feels connected, intentional, and built around their everyday life.
Designing Around Real Routines
One of our favorite parts of this project was how personal the design became. Every cabinetry decision, storage solution, and furnishing was tailored to the family's daily habits. Extra-large water bottles were given dedicated storage. Phones and devices received thoughtfully planned charging stations tucked neatly out of sight. The formal dining room was transformed into a play and game room that better reflected how the family actually spends time together.
Even spaces that might otherwise be overlooked received careful attention. An underutilized hallway became an unexpected design feature with decorative mirrors and sconces that reflect light and add character to the home.
The result is a first floor with improved functionality while maintaining a refined, cohesive feel.
Beautiful Spaces Built for Everyday Living
A well-designed home should be as practical as it is polished. With young children and an active household, we selected durable materials, timeless wood finishes, and performance fabrics designed to stand up to everyday life while maintaining their elevated look for years to come. Every selection was made with longevity in mind.
To support our executive client’s hybrid work schedule, a functional home office was an essential part of the renovation. A custom artwork commission from a local Cleveland artist, Ashley Sullivan, created a striking Zoom backdrop while adding a meaningful, personal touch to the space.
Managing the Details—So Our Clients Didn't Have To
One of the greatest advantages of full-service interior design is having a team to manage the countless moving pieces behind the scenes on your behalf. Throughout this remodel, we coordinated selections, attended contractor meetings, communicated with trades, and provided detailed project updates so our clients could continue focusing on their careers and family life. Even when work commitments prevented them from visiting the job site, they remained informed and confident that every detail was moving forward as planned.
