Home decor wish list: my holiday gift guide
It’s official, the holiday season is here! Maybe you have already started your holiday shopping (or maybe not), and you are still looking for that perfect present for someone on your list (or a perfect gift idea for yourself – take note, Santa!). If you need some holiday gift ideas, I wanted to share some of my favorite things that I have and love in my own home, some of my favorite gifts to give for special occasions, and what’s on my Christmas list this year. I will be sharing another post about shopping local and my go-to home décor stores in my town (#shoplocalcleveland), but if you are looking to do your holiday shopping curled up with your comfy slippers and a mug of hot cocoa, here’s my holiday gift guide – the online shopping edition:
This geometric wine rack from Crate and Barrel is a design piece on its own, and comes in a variety of metal finishes (gold, copper, graphite, and silver). Place it on a counter top, buffet table, bar cart, or even above a cabinet and fill with your favorite bottles for your own mini wine cellar, and instantly show-stopping decor. Cheers!
Keep cozy and stylish in the cold with this plaid border blanket scarf from Mark and Graham, which can also be used as a shawl. Go for monogramming and add your initial for a personalized touch. I am swooning over the Ivory-Charcoal color, but it also comes in patterns with Camel, Red, and Navy. This one is definitely at the top of my Christmas list (hopefully my husband is reading this!):
As you know, I love to read – and I mean l-o-v-e to read – but did you also know I love to cook? My husband and I bonded over our shared love for cooking early on in our relationship. One of our favorite weekend dates was to visit Cleveland’s local West Side Market, pick out fresh meats and veggies to cook for dinner that night, take home a tasty dessert, then stop for a beer at Great Lakes Brewery. For our last wedding anniversary, he surprised me with the Magnolia Table cookbook. While every single recipe sounds incredible, I can't wait to make the lemon lavender ice box cookies. He’s looking forward to Jo’s Homemade Biscuits. Not only is this cookbook packed of delicious, wholesome farm-inspired recipes, but it looks amazing displayed on a coffee table or kitchen counter:
This leather tech roll up is perfect for holiday travel, or to just keep your everyday essentials organized. I love how you can fit your charger, earbuds, and memory card for easy access - no more searching through your bag! It comes in more than fifteen colors, but I'm eyeing the blush pink. And you can have it monogrammed for free for even more #bossbabe status.
Another of my favorite books is Chasing Slow by Erin Loechner. I first came across this book on a friend’s Instagram feed, and was so intrigued by the cover that I looked it up immediately and bought it. Erin shares her personal journey, from landing a lucrative online HGTV show and wildly successful blog, to navigating difficult financial territory and personal losses, which ultimately led her to her Chasing Slow path. Filled with pages of beautiful photos and nuggets of inspirational wisdom, Erin’s story as an entrepreneur, home décor enthusiast, wife and mom has something to appeal to everyone.
I definitely love to add some sparkle into my home décor and entertaining, especially around the holidays! This beautiful rose gold bar tray from the Monique L'huillier collection with Pottery Barn can function as a stunning display for a makeshift bar (top with your wine bottles and a bottle opener for an easy self-serve bar when hosting guests), a dining room table centerpiece (add a clear glass vase of fresh flowers and a collection of votive candle holders for a glam effect), or a sleek coffee table accent (top with a book, candle, and potted succulent). I’m already dreaming of adding this stunning, versatile piece to my collection!
If you haven’t tried these candles, and especially if you are into wine, they are a-mazing. Made from recycled wine bottles (and with a cute, cheeky name: Rewind), they are not only eco-friendly but also smell absolutely delicious. They are modeled after all different kinds of wine: merlot, Riesling, rosé, etc. but hands down the fresh, bubbly scented Champagne and the luxurious, buttery Chardonnay are my go-to scents. Perfect for a hostess gift or a #treatyourself moment!
These gallery picture frames from West Elm are such a classic, timeless gift – and the polished nickel frames and neutral mat will go with virtually any décor palette. I used them to create a mini gallery in our upstairs hallway, and the metal frame really makes your photographs pop. They also have easel stands, so you can either mount them or display them on a table top. Select from a variety of different sizes, and group them together for an instant gallery wall to showcase your favorite color or black and white photos and memories.
You can never have too many candle holders. Whether displayed on a fireplace mantle, side table, dining room table, or window frame, candles can both instantly chic up a space but also make it feel cozy. These mercury glass pillar candle holders look both classic and modern, and come in a variety of sizes to mix and match for creating your perfect vignette or display.
This mug is my absolute favorite for drinking my morning coffee, or savoring hot cocoa or tea. We received them a few years ago as a gift from friends, one with each of our initials (from Anthropologie). I love the wider design (even more room for caffeinated goodness), and the notched keyhole handle. The farmhouse style makes my morning coffee feel even more nostalgic, and these mugs look amazing on display on a shelf or mug rack.
I have these coasters in white in almost every room of my upstairs: besides the bedrooms, I also keep one in my bathroom to protect the marble countertop. They are large, square and ceramic which means they will fit virtually any size and cup shape, and the white shade is a pearly neutral which goes with any room’s color palette and décor. And no two coasters look exactly alike – their uniqueness alone makes them beautiful! Perfect as a hostess or holiday party gift.
And finally, this gift is for the ultimate home decor lover and home chef... in honor of the 100-year anniversary of KitchenAid®, they are celebrating with a special, limited edition heritage model of their legendary mixers - a must have in every kitchen! Best for whipping up large batches of batter or dough (we recently used ours to make incredible homemade cinnamon buns), a KitchenAid® mixer stands as a reminder of simpler times before the hustle and bustle of our busy. packed schedules and social media-filled days. This retro-inspired, limited edition is exquisitely designed, from the beautiful misty blue color to the white ceramic hobnail bowl. It would look amazing on display in any kitchen, and would add even more cheer to cookie baking. Well, a girl can dream... Happy shopping!
