Coastal cool: My simple bedroom makeover
I'm so excited I was finally able to makeover this little area of our master bedroom! For so long, we had one of those electric fireplaces in our bedroom (which was absolutely amazing during those frigid Cleveland winters), but after some time realized that our 1946 colonial would need some serious electrical updates in order for us to keep using it on the regular. So, for the time being, the fireplace had to be retired.
Since the fireplace is not in commission, I always thought about bringing this white and polished nickel butler tray and stand from West Elm out of storage. I love the chic and sleek design, and the piece is so versatile - you can use it to display framed photos, vases of your favorite flowers (check out how to make your own fresh or faux flower arrangements), or it can even function as a minibar!
I styled it with a tall glass cylinder vase with white potting stones, and faux calla lily stems. The books stacked underneath are two of my recent favorites: Homebody by Joanna Gaines and Becoming by Michelle Obama. I removed the book jackets and stored them away, because I loved the neutral, textured look of the actual books! That's one of my favorite tricks for styling bookshelves - in most cases, the style of the actual book is far more beautiful and classic than the printed book jacket.
The framed photo is a digital print I bought off Etsy from Printable Sky and had it printed at my local FedEx, for just a few bucks, which I put in this distressed wood frame.
So there's my easy bedroom DIY makeover! I love how much more light and airy that little corner of my bedroom feels, with just a few simple decor changes. #littlewins
